Advertising Standards
a regulator is a body thats not part of the government but will follow governments guidance or laws.There is a regulator for tv and radio (ofcom), for newspapers and magazines (ipso)...for schools (ofsted) for energy companies etc.
each have different amounts of power. sometimes they are there to deal with or investigate complaints from the public. sometimes they can issue bans, fines or warnings.
ASA is an advertising authority, that regulates adverts and takes them down if they don't comply.
key advertising rules;
ads must not mislead
claims should be supported with evidence
advertisers should be honest
ads should not offend
ads should be responsible
For my adverts I will make sure to comply with these rules, for example my adverts will not contain offensive material and i will do this by making sure they are representative and inclusive for all. I will not mislead anyone by making sure that I have my channel logo and slogan at the end of each ad, thus its clear what my ads purpose is. My ad will be responsible, by making it viewable for all ages and child proof.
